Every Can Counts will launch in GMIT Castlebar as part of the co-ordinated effort by the lecturing staff and students union to improve upon an already very Green Campus.
GMIT has a long history of being Green and was in fact the first I.T. in Ireland to be awarded the Green Flag, with this in mind students and college lectures already involved with Leave No Trace want to try and make the campus as environmentally friendly as possible.
This year the GMIT Mayo Campus Kayak & Canoe Club has the huge honor of hosting the Kayaking Intervarsities 2016, during Green Week. This is a three day kayaking event, with competitions and party’s for students involved in Kayaking throughout the third level colleges of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
This years event will take place on the first weekend of February 5th – 7th 2016 and Every Can Counts will be there to mark the occasion, launching the programme at GMIT now becoming the 7th campus to employ Every Can Counts as a measure to improve their on campus sustainability goals.
